In Their Thousands formed in May 2011 in Co. Donegal. The McClafferty brothers Aidan & Declan and their cousin Ruairí Friel rented a house in the sleepy village of Ramelton and started writing, recording and rehearsing original material. Over the course of the year longtime friend Liam Kelly joined the band on bass and the project became In Their Thousands. The writing and recording session from that summer grew into the material on the bands debut EP affectionately referred to as 'The Steeples EP'.
